Last updated: 3 October 2026. This page explains what we collect, what we don't, and what our advertising partners do. The short version: everything you type into a calculator stays in your browser — but this site carries advertising, and advertising uses cookies.

1. Who we are

AI Cost Base ("we", "us", "this site") operates https://aicostbase.com, a free collection of cost calculators and a public model-price database for people building on AI APIs. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@aicostbase.com.

2. What you type into the calculators

All calculators run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The numbers, models, volumes and rates you enter are never transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no account, no login, no server-side session, and no database of user inputs. If you close the tab, the numbers are gone. We could not read them even if we wanted to, because they never reach a server we operate.

3. What we do collect automatically

Like virtually every website, we and our service providers may collect standard, non-identifying technical information when you visit: the pages you view, the referring page, your approximate location (country/city level), browser and device type, and timestamps. This is used to understand aggregate traffic, fix broken pages, and measure whether the site is useful. It is not used to identify you personally.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device. This site and the third parties described below use them for a few purposes:

• Essential / functional — remembering interface state so the site works correctly.
• Analytics — counting visits and understanding which pages are used, in aggregate.
• Advertising — serving ads and, where permitted, making those ads more relevant.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, the calculators will still work — they do not depend on cookies.

5. Advertising — Google AdSense and third-party vendors

This site is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, and we may also work with other third-party advertising networks.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and/or other websites on the internet.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also place or read cookies, web beacons or similar identifiers on your browser in connection with the ads shown here.

6. How to opt out of personalised advertising

You can control or disable personalised advertising at any time. None of these opt-outs cost anything, and none of them stop you from using this site:

• Google Ads Settings — visit google.com/settings/ads to opt out of personalised advertising by Google.
• Google's ad technology providers — the current list of vendors and their opt-out options is published at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
• Industry opt-out tools — in the US, optout.aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance) and networkadvertising.org/choices (NAI) let you opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.
• In Europe — youronlinechoices.eu provides the equivalent tool for EU/UK users.

Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting advertising or analytics cookies, and you can withdraw that consent at any time. Opting out of personalised advertising does not mean you will stop seeing ads — it means the ads you see will be less tailored to you.

7. Affiliate and referral links

Some outbound links on this site may be affiliate or referral links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up for a service through them, at no additional cost to you. This is one of the ways the site is funded. Commissions never affect the numbers: our calculators are formula-first, every rate states its basis, and any rate you cannot trace to a source is editable by design so you can plug in your own.

8. How long we keep data

Because we do not hold user accounts or store calculator inputs, there is no personal profile to retain. Aggregate analytics data is retained by our analytics provider for a limited period under their own retention policies. Advertising partners retain cookie data according to their own policies, which you can review at the links in section 6.

9. Children's privacy

This site is a business and developer tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal data about you, and to object to certain processing — including targeted advertising and profiling. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, these rights arise under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its UK equivalent. Our lawful bases for processing are consent (for advertising and analytics cookies, in the regions where consent is required) and legitimate interest (for aggregate, non-identifying site analytics). You can withdraw consent at any time; withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew.

California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — you can exercise that using the opt-out links in section 6, or by emailing us. We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense of the word, and we do not knowingly process the data of anyone under 16 for advertising purposes.

11. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because calculators run locally and we do not operate user accounts, there is no user credential database on our side to breach. That is deliberate: the least data we hold, the less there is to lose.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be reflected here, and continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
